Manchester City have something to put right after that feeble home defeat in the previous round of the Champions League, and tonight's opponents offer a good chance to do just that. AEK Athens look like one of the competition's whipping boys, and I expect City to win by at least two goals. That is the whole basis for the bet: a side who should have plenty to prove, against opponents who have so far not shown they belong at the top level.
The caveat is obvious. A team that has just lost at home is not automatically unstoppable next time out, and two goals is a substantial margin to cover in Europe.
